Cape Hatteras National Seashore

Cape Hatteras National Seashore

Set against a pastel background, the lighthouse symbolizes hope for a state in despair, a beacon in the darkness. Even in a time of great devastation, the lighthouse is still standing tall.

The intended audience is anyone who has been impacted or knows someone impacted by the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene in North Carolina. I wanted these stamps to depict the beauty the state has to offer by highlighting two of its National Parks: the Cape Hatteras National Seashore that lies on the Eastern coast and the Blue Ridge Parkway that runs through the Western part of the state. The phrase “North Carolina Strong” is a showing of solidarity with everyone who was impacted. The stamps will also appeal to anyone who loves national parks, likes to travel, or collects state ephemera.
